Attorney Mike Smalz testified on behalf of the Ohio Poverty Law Center and Ohio Consumers of Health Coverage in support of continuing Ohio’s Medicaid expansion and in opposition to work requirements that were included in the House version of the budget bill, Substitute House Bill 49. Mike testified that the proposed work requirements are counterproductive because they would create significant barriers to health care for many low-income Ohioans and make it even harder many people with serious health conditions to obtain needed medical care so they can obtain employment or return to work.
